Richard P. Stanley

Professor of Applied Mathematics

This semester (Spring 2013) I am teaching 18.781 (Theory of Numbers). Next semester (Fall 2013) I am teaching 18.315 (Topic in Combinatorics) and 18.821 (Project Laboratory in Mathematics). The tentative topic for 18.315 is symmetric functions. During the following semester (Spring 2014) I will be on leave at the University of Miami.

Transparencies from recent talks

Enumerative Combinatorics : Some information on a two-volume book I have written. Includes new material related to Catalan numbers and new exercises on symmetric functions. Also includes a link to a preliminary version of the second edition of volume 1. The second edition is now in print!

Hyperplane arrangements: lecture notes for graduate students.

Bijective proof problems: a list of almost 250 problems on bijective proofs, with around 27 open problems (version of 18 August 2009)

Algebraic Combinatorics: information on a forthcoming book.
