The construction of the map goes back to the greek mathematician C.~Stephanos who published a paper about this in 1883, using classical geometric invariant theory. I will put this in a contemporary context and give a new proof of the properties of the map. This is joint work with H.~Lange. \vfill %%% Date goes here, and location (Harvard Rm 507 or MIT Room 4--163) \begin{center} {\large March 19, 2002 3:00 p.m. Harvard Room 507 %MIT Room 4-163 } \end{center} \vspace{0.5in} \begin{center} %%% Seminar website goes here \verb+http://www-math.mit.edu/~abuch/seminar/+ \end{center} \end{titlepage} \end{document}
