PHYSICAL MATHEMAITCS SEMINAR TOPIC: SOME MATHEMATICAL ASPECTS OF HYPERBOLIC FRONT DYNAMICS SPEAKER: HORACIO G. ROTSTEIN Brandeis University ABSTRACT: We study the evolution of fronts for some hyperbolic "bistable" equations, which are generalization of the Klein-Gordon equation. In particular the Allen-Cahn equation with memory and the damped Klein-Gordon equation with quasi-discrete nonlinearities. We present asymptotically valid equations that govern the evolution of fronts and analyze the corresponding dynamics. Joint work with A.A. Nepomnyashchy and A.I.
