Computational Simulations of Granular Materials with Periodic Boundary Conditions using the Spot Model<

Abstract: The Spot Model by Bazant et al. is a new microscopic model to describe granular media drainage based on cooperative motions of particles in response to an excitation: a spot of interstitial volume. It appears to match experimental and DEM simulations quite well for short times but present deviation for longer times. This study with PBC will allow to test the stability and robustness of this model.
