First year students who receive a D grade may sign up for it before the
review session in the UMO 2-108. For most students only exams are
required, but some may be required to do additional homework if they did
insufficient homework during the term. The class has no lectures; there
are review sessions, and then exams are given.
Dec 17, 2007. In problem 15 (Final Exam 2006) the area element in polar coordinates is dA=(1/2)r^2 d\theta -- the factor 1/2 is missing from the Solutions-!

Nov 26, 2007. In 4G-5 the answer should be the given integral with limits from 0 to 16, as opposed to 0 to 2 as stated in the solutions. We thank Nathaniel Jay T Salazar for pointing this out.

Nov 22, 2007. The following mistakes have been found in the notes. We thank Vladimir Sobes for pointing out several mistakes.
2C-13b : the answer is $25,000 as opposed to $250,000.
3A-2e: with the given substitutions u=8-2x^2 we get that the integral is \int u^{-1/2} (-1/4) du as opposed to the stated \int u^{1/2} (-1/4) du, and so when this correct integral is evaluated the final answer is -1/2 \sqrt{8-2x^2}+C.

1H-3b solution: replace -x^2 with x^2 in each occurrence
2B-1e solution: increasing on both intervals x < -4 and x > -4
2B-7b solution: limit of \Delta y/\Delta x (not \Delta x/\Delta y)
2A-12b solution:
\ln(1+x)/xe^x
\approx (x-x^2/2)/[x(1+x)] = (1-x/2)(1+x)^{-1} \approx 1-(3/2)x
(need quadratic approximation to \ln(1+x) to get linear approx
to this ratio)
2B-1b solution: y' = 4x^3 -4 (not x^3-4) so the critical point is at x=1
and 4^{1/3} should be replaced by 1 in several places,
critical value y(1) = -2. The graph does cross the x-axis (exactly twice),
and the picture is wrong.
